The one piece of clothing that has truly stood the test of time is that of the traditional Indian saree. Of course, it has undergone several modifications and deconstructions and reinventions over the years, particularly so in the last couple of years, such the ethnic drape hasn’t just become an all-occasion wear (on the red carpet, at the airport, to promotional events) but all an all-mood clothing (from urban chic to super sexy and everything in between). Of the few major contributors to this surge in popularity of the saree happens to be Deepika Padukone, as should be common knowledge. And the diva just added another gorgeous look to her already beautiful and extensive saree portfolio as she attended the Italian Consulate’s Volare Awards 2018, this time nailing three major trends at once… stripes, colour blocks and metallics.

Here, take a look…

What She Wore

Styled by Shaleena Nathani, Deepika was seen in a beautiful Sabyasachi saree from the designer’s soon-to-be-launched Spring Summer 2018 collection. The white and red striped Georgette saree belted with a sleek white belt went with a textured black blouse. Paying a subtle ode to the bling metallic trend, the blouse featured long sleeves with metallic cuffs.

Shoes & Accessories

With her beautiful drape, Deepika opted for a pair of classy diamond drop earrings that worked as the sole piece of jewellery in the ensemble.

Hair & Makeup

Deepika teamed up with a new hair stylist, Nisha Gulati who styled the actress’ hair in a severe low bun. Makeup artist Anil C finished off Dippy’s look with strong eyebrows, defined eyes and bold red lips.

A belted saree so gorgeous it is hard to not crush, a face so beautiful it’s impossible to take our eyes off and a smile so infectious it is irresistible, Deepika won ethnic fashion yet again. Plus there is also the matter of her perfectly styled hair and her on-fleek makeup.
