Rohit Bal’s Majestic Floral Collection At The India Couture Week 2016
Say whatever you will, but ace designer designer Rohit Bal proved once again that florals and peacocks can never go out of fashion. After a wonderful five-day run, the India Couture Week 2016 was concluded yesterday with Bal’s Kashmiri-Russian collection, ‘Kehkashaan.’ And while it started off on a not-so-innovative note, the show went on to showcase some extravagant creativity on the designer’s part.
The collection was dominated by dark hues like black, navy blue and burgundy; white being the only exception. Intricately embroidered floral and bird motifs ruled the outfits that ranged from lehengas and anarkalis to capes and gowns.
First up was the white collection, which was clearly the least interesting of the lot. The Kashmiri embroidered lehengas, Anarkalis and Jodhpuris did little to capture interest and seemed repetitive. However, this was the only mediocre set and Bal’s following outfits soon set the stage ablaze with their dramatic details and bold colours.
Noticeably, the skits and gowns in most cases carried zero to minimal embellishment; it was the tops and the jackets that took centre stage.
What further added to the majestic feel of the collection was the diamond, ruby and emerald jewellery by Shri Ram Hari Ram Jewellers Dariba Kalan that the models sported. And not to forget the be jewelled headgears that would put all Disney princesses to shame.
