12 Of The Hottest Trends Spotted At NYFW Fall 2018 Shows, Appearances

We’re off to a sparkly start as major American brands like Christian Siriano, Alexander Wang and Marc Jacobs among many more got us all excited about Fashion week season’s first leg at New York. Think spectacular statement pieces, impactful prints and colours destined to be trendy all winter long. To give you a taste of what’s to come this fall we’re sharing all the trends we’re loving at NYFW.

1. Ruffled up

Feminine chicness returns in the form of ruffled details next season. Now, this is one trend we love getting behind.

2. Plaid power

Nothing says polished like some plaid in the winters. From jackets, to scarves and even dresses, plaid is all you need in your closets this winter.

3. Peek-a-boo!

Showing some skin in always in. But, there are sneakier ways to get behind the trend and that’s through cut-out peek-a-boo hints that say hot and polished at the same time.

4. Mix-n-match

We love patchwork as much as the next girl, but when patterns are mixed up in an entirely interesting way — we’re all eyes! This time around designers played with prints and textures like we’ve never seen before.

5. Colour block

This may be a summer favourite, but it seemed omnipresent on the fall runways as well — think loud colour contrasts and bold looking outfits!

6. Hot pink

There’s nothing we love more than seeing our favourite bright and bold hues come alive on the runway. Case-in-point — the hot pink hue! Feminine, flirty and chic, this colour will leave those onlookers turning heads all day long.

7. Collegiate cool

It seemed as though designers revisited their younger years when campus chic 90s’ outfits started doing the rounds on the runway. From crop tops to plaid pants and beanie caps, we were instantly transported to the sets of a teenage American movie.

8. Mocha latte

Of all the colours that came onto the runway, this way by far our favourite. Think chocolatey mocha brown hues yummy enough to look good while you wear it.

It was a savage garden at fashion week with leopard and zebra prints running amok on the runway. Chic as ever, animal prints proved their staying power for the upcoming season.

10. Mustard yellow

Just when you thought bright and sunny hues only belonged to the summers — think again. Mustard yellows were all over the shows at NYFW and they couldn’t have been more flattering!

11. Sleeve drama

Dramatic sleeves were unmissable at fashion week. Whether it was bubbled up bishop sleeves or exaggerated power shoulders — these designers had more than a trick up their sleeves this fashion week.

12. Suit chic

Suits have become somewhat of a standard at fashion week no matter what season. But the iteration this time consisted of feminine allure and coloured suits rather than the regular androgynous feel.
