Lakme Fashion Week Summer Resort 2018 Day 2: Trend Spotting, Appearances

Lakme Fashion Week has come a long way ever since its progression from Indian textiles day to what is now known as Sustainable fashion day that celebrates eco-friendly fabrics, traditional weaves and the artisans at work that help make fashion good and really stylish. Read on ahead to see the statement making trends we came across on day two.

1. Bohemian free-spirit

Think batik prints, unrestricted layering and some relaxed silhouettes — the bohemian spirit was alive at day two of the fashion extravaganza.

2. Monochrome magic

Our favourite trend was doing the rounds on the runway and we couldn’t be happier about it. Monochrome is one of the easiest way to look chic that our designers know it all too well.

3. The new saree

One thing that keeps getting a makeover each season at Lakme Fashion Week, is the humble saree. This time around, it got a more youthful and chic appeal with its minimal pallu and trouser for petticoat look.

4. T-shirt blouse

With the youthful and contemporary new saree came the new blouse — it’s comfy, cool and rather refreshing — the t-shirt blouse.

5. Parisian glam

There’s nothing we love more than a contrast of two worlds, namely Parisian chic silhouettes in the form of traditional Indian textiles — the results are nothing short of chic.

6. Asymmetry

Nothing adds more intrigue to an outfit than some asymmetry. Angled hemlines added some flavourful fervour to the catwalks yesterday.

7. High collar

Accentuated collars and high necks were the highlight of the day. From classic Nehru to exaggerated shirt collars teamed with some sharp tailoring added some definition.

8. Long kurta

Long kurtas teamed with free flowing pallazo pants created a trademark look on the runway that you couldn’t miss. Summer’s are all about relaxed silhouettes and this is one trend we can’t wait to get on board with.

9. Patchwork patrol

There’s nothing we love seeing more than fabrics and textures come together seamlessly in the form of patchwork. What better a way to celebrate a day of weaves and textiles than to mix it all up!

10. Shift dress

We call this the one trend that’s the easiest to pull off! Shift dresses are relaxed, fun and free and we loved spotting a slew of these on the runway.

11. White out

Nothing says summer like wearing some head-to-toe white. Call it a palate cleanser if you will, this trend was a refreshing filler amidst all the vibrant mayhem.
