Lakme Fashion Week Summer Resort 2018 Day 4: Trend Spotting, Appearances

Day 4 at Lakme Fashion Week transported us to destination weddings and tropical resort vacations with their breezy silhouettes, sombre hues and some seriously breathtaking looks.

1. Flared A-lines

The classic A-line silhouette was back on the runway, this time around, refreshed and renewed in the form of slightly flared tops over breezy bottoms.

2. Black magic

Nothing like some dreamy black dresses adorned with embroidery, enough to put you in a trance. We love the way black has repositioned itself as a wardrobe mainstay.

3. Cinched chic

Fashion week isn’t complete without a noteworthy comeback of the cinched waist. Whether traditional desi wear or contemporary looks, cinching your waist will always be in.

4. High-low asymmetry

There’s no better a way to create some intrigue in an outfit than by adding some high low hemlines to it.

5. Jacketed silhouettes

Slick and fresh silhouettes were a highlight of the day and these lightly jacketed looks rendered the perfect inspiration for contemporary summer weddings.

6. Shirted layers

You may have come across the shirted blouse on a saree or the shirt kurti, however, this time around designers incorporated the humble shirt in a rather fun way — underneath it all! Under a desi tunic or strappy dress this look was easily one of our favourites.

7. New dupatta drape

Gone are the days when a dupatta had to be painstakingly pinned and draped over the shoulder in pleats. Designers brought on a low key and ethereal way to wear it — placed over your shoulders! The resulting look is angelic and understated chic.

8. Off-the-shoulder

This is one trend we simply refuse to let go of and designers feel just the same. Off-shoulder crop tops and blouses are here and still hot!

9. Hot pink

Nothing says summer like a pop of fun and feminine colour. Hot pinks ruled the runways, whether it was traditional, contemporary or resort wear.

10. Tiered tricks

Trendsetting silhouettes were all over the catwalk on day four and tiered skirts were one of the many noteworthy looks among the lot — dramatic, princess-like and extremely pretty!
