Lakme Fashion Week Summer Resort 2018 Day 5: Trend Spotting, Appearances

Lakme fashion week came to a close on a fun and festive note this weekend. With sheer hints, capes and empire line comebacks, we were pretty inspired by the lineup of trends coming from the shows on the last day.

1. Caped crusaders

Capes are still going strong when it comes to being teamed with lehengas. And why wouldn’t they? They give off the chicest vibe and look rather refreshing compared to the regular choli blouse.

2. Check mate

Checks made quite the impression on the runway on the final day. Think big gingham-like blocks of colour or fun madras checks — they’re all chic and here to stay for the summer.

3. Dhoti pants

Nothing says contemporary desi wear like an embroidered crop top teamed with dhoti pants. These draped looks were all the rage on the catwalk and added some voluminous glamour to the looks.

4. Empire line dresses

This classic trend is back, especially when worn in the form of gorgeous dresses that accentuate the waist.

5. Shades of grey

The designers gave us enough reason to want to sport this otherwise ignored colour.

6. Desi peplums

These kediyu flared concoctions had us wondering if they were the desi answer to the western peplum. Need to add a little drama to your next desi do? Just add some peplum flare!

7. Sheer and summery

Summer trend files aren’t complete without the comeback of some sheer organzas and nets.

8. Pseudo-saree

Sarees got major makeovers and remixes throughout this season of Lakme Fashion Week. On the last day, they were seen in the form of effortless mock drapes thrown over the shoulder.

9. Olive greens

This is the one shade other than grey that goes unnoticed for its summery appeal and beauty. They’re universally flattering on all skin tones and look a lot better when worn in the form of shiny silks.

10. Scarf Snuggles

Feel free to snuggle up in some lightweight scarves this season because this trend isn’t just for the winter.
