Lakme Fashion Week 2016: Jacqueline Fernandez Goes Retro-Chic For Ashish N Soni
You know the temperatures on the ramp will soon shoot up when you walk into an Ashish N Soni show. The ace designer made a return to the Mumbai ramps after seven long years with Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2016 and he certainly did not disappoint this time either. Ashish showcased his latest collection Volomatic – a tricky yet well-achieved combination of volume and monochromatic. And the show truly lived up to its name with all things voluminous; from clothes to hair to music.
Given that Soni collaborated with TRESemmé, a brand that recently got Jacqueline on board as a brand ambassador, we weren’t surprised to find the diva walking the ramp for Soni as his showstopper. The actress sported a black draped knee-length dress with herringbone patterned on silk jacquard. Her hair was fashioned in voluminous retro waves, keeping in tune with the theme.
Soni’s collection brought the black-and-white era to life, quite literally with monochromatic silhouettes that were oversized and boxy, yet sharp. The most interesting aspect of the collection was the bold interplay of polka dots, stripes and checks, in various sizes.
After the loud pattern-on-pattern presentation, solid whites, mostly teamed up with solid blacks or monochromatic prints were seen.
And finally came the army in black, and there were garments that made heavy use of textures.
From the interesting range of wide jumpsuits, fitted blazers with boxy shoulders, classy midis, sexy minis and much more, it sure wasn’t easy to pick one. So we picked two!
