Lakme Fashion Week 2016: Modern Silhouettes With A Dash Of Colour And Quirk

by Kiran Kaur

The Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2016 saw an abundance of contemporary, quirk, anti-fits and layers. Bringing some more of these and then some were designer labels Lovebirds, Kanelle, Siddharth Bansal and Aartivijay Gupta.

It was a separate story… quite literally! The label Lovebirds, in association with BLOT (Basic Love Of Things), showcased a line that was dominated by separates. Their collection saw flirty anti-fits from crop-tops to off-shoulders and skirts to palazzos. Though the colour story was limited to blue, red, ochre, black and white, the collection saw ample colour blocking which added a fun element to street wear.

With its latest collection Blue Jean Baby, designer Kanika Jain brought a denim lover’s dream alive. From one pieces to culottes, jackets to skirts, the collection saw an interesting interplay of basic denims with fringes, ruffles, raw edges, prints and a lot more. Functional and wearable!

With his new collection, the designer presented a cool combination of vintage Indian folksy motifs and contemporary cuts. What added to the charm of the sharp and modern silhouettes were the bright colours that sure draw attention. From off-shoulder maxis to crop-tops to kurtis to pencils skirts, the designer had a pretty chic range to choose from.
