Trend Spotting At Milan Fashion Week Fall 2018
If we had to pick a favourite fashion city this season, Milan would be it — from stunning prints to loud splashes of colour, texture and patterns and even some mythical creatures (Read: Gucci!), the designers at Milan showed us a rather refreshing and fun side to fashion. Ahead, take a look at all the gorgeous trends we spotted on the Italian runways.
Nothing makes a strong statement like head-to-toe monochrome! Go on and drench yourselves in hues of the same colour of your choice and slay all day.
2. Bohemian rhapsody
Tribal chic Bohemia came alive on the catwalk in forms of raw threads, fringes, weaves and tonnes of texture!
3. Dress shirt
We have a feeling this trend is going to be big all year this 2018 — we’re talking layering shirts and tee’s under dresses. Ever felt like sprucing up a dress you’ve already worn too many times on repeat? The answer is just this simple.
4. Hot cocoa
Mocha brown shades have been doing the rounds ever since the fashion calendar kicked off in New York. It transitioned to camel shades in London and Milan got its own taste of some hot cocoa browns.
This trend has already hit the hight street stores like a bomb and will continue to be a hot style all year long. Make way for some co-ords in your wardrobe STAT!
6. Puffed up
Another trend that’s been hot on the high street this season is the good old puff sleeve. We saw quite a few takes on the sleeve at fashion week and this one’s clearly here to stay.
7. Chic juxtapositions
This trend made waves in London and Milan wasn’t far behind — from colours to prints and textures that don’t usually go together; fashion is in love with a good contrast this season and we’re all for it!
8. Bright and bold
Just when you thought neon was out, it’s being brought back in thanks to designers at Moschino while others dabbled around with some equally bold and bright hues.
In- your-face branding is back and its here to stay. Nothing says ‘not so subtle’ like a designer label shoutout right across your tee.
10. Plaid plans
Another trend that proved its mainstream power this season was some gorgeous plaid. We especially loved the way Versace took it to another level with colour-blocked iterations.
11. Abstract art
Milan shows saw an art movement on the runways this season — from graphic comic art to some slogan couture, abstract prints were a sight to see.
12. Whimsical accessories
Shows like Gucci broke the internet when they brought on faux prosthetic dragons and snakes at the hands of their models, whereas at Tod’s real pups replaced accessories on the runways and Dolce created bags out of stuffed animals. While we don’t endorse replacing accessories with real or mythical creatures, it couldn’t go without a noteworthy mention!
